Appalachian Region Patrollers Date: Sun, 17 May 1998 11:19:17 -0400 Subject: May 16, 1998, Meeting From: guylom@juno.com (Guy Lombardo) Good Morning to All, I would want to express my thanks those attending the meeting and to John Clark for hosting. To the best of my knowledge this is a first for the Region but should not and will not be the last. I was very pleased with the input and the cross information that was brought out. I feel if we are going to gain our rightful place in the Division again this is a good start. Of the many subjects brought forth one in particular that is causing concern is liability and personnel injury insurance. Where do we as patrollers stand? Do we need personal liability insurance? I will write a letter to Bill Cline the Region's legal and risk management person to get his thoughts on this. At this time Bill is not on e-mail so I will have to use the "Pony Express." When I find out I will pass this on to you We have an Awards person, Skip Rebele, that knows the ends and outs of producing the right words to forward nominations to the Division Awards Supervisor. All he needs is for us to pass it on to him and he will correct anything that may be needed. I have worked with Skip before and know his ability and expertise. Lou Mammone has served as the Alumni Advisor for six years. He is excellent but again can only do the job if he gets the information from you. We (after many years) now have an Western Appalachian Region Web Page thanks to Jim Blauch. The address is: http://www.patrol.org/war/index.htm. Jim's title is Patroller Communications. Please pass this address on to your people that can access the page. You will find a lot of WAR info. I'm sure by now you are aware the Bryant Hall has taken over the OEC Administrator position. He has been working on dates for the coming season. August 29, 1998, is the OEC Instructor refresher at Seven Springs, thanks to the courtesy, as always, of John Clark. Another one is also in the workings, date or place not assigned for now. Another date to remember is the Officer's meeting that will be held in Indiana, PA, on August 15, 1998. I have changed the meeting place to the Best Western. In the past the place we held the annual meeting always put a time limit. Too many times we ended out at the pool area to wrap up the loose ends. I have a promise that this year the Best Western will not move us at 2:00 PM. Please alert your people that attend this meeting to the date and place. We are also working to have Phase II OEC, date unknown at this time. I have said this before I always had the "Open Door Policy" as Section Chief; this will never change. If you have a problem that I may be able to help, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you, Guy |
