Young Adult Patroller (
When: Saturday Feb. 26th
Where: Blue Knob
Blue Knob is preparing to host the Western Appalachian Region Young
Adult Patroller (YAP) Semianr. This one-day event will be held Saturday
February 26th at Blue Knob All Seasons Resort. The 15-18 year old
patrollers, still in high school, will have the opportunity to ski, ski and
toboggan train, and practice winter first aid skills in a clinic setting that
will not only help to hone their overall skills but also prep them for attendance
to the Divisional YAP Seminar at Sugarloaf, Maine March 18-21.
Skiing on different terrain and working with new instructors will offer
them new possibilities. Most importantly they will have the opportunity to work
with other young adult patrollers and create a larger peer group set than what
they might be used to at their home mountain.
Any student who attends the Blue Knob Seminar and then goes onto the
Divisional Seminar is eligible for a "Trip Assistance Opportunity
Grant". Based upon the number of participants and availability of funds
the grant could be as much as $100.00 to offset their registration and or
travel expenses. The only requirements being that they participate in the Blue
Knob Seminar and then attend the Sugarloaf event and submit a short two to
three paragraph essay, minimum of 250 words, on their experiences at the
Divisional seminar.
There is no cost to the one-day event at Blue Knob and lunch will be
provided. However pre-registration is a must. I can be reached by email or by
phone if you need more information.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
